===== Setup of a computer (and nothing else) =====

If you only want to connect one computer, it should be sufficient to connect the computer with a LAN cable and configure the network information. Please consult the operating instructions for your operating system.

For Windows you can find the correct instructions [[https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-tcp-ip-settings-bd0a07af-15f5-cd6a-363f-ca2b6f391ace|here]]. Please select the option Manual (not automatic (DHCP)!) and leave out the IPv6 settings. 

For Macintosh you can find the correct instructions [[https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mchlp2718/13.0/mac/13.0|here]]. The correct option is "manual".

If a subnet prefix length is requested instead of the subnet mask, the following conversion table applies:
