Fritz!Box
Note
Most Fritz!Box devices contain a built-in DSL or fibre optic modem. Even though in many cases it is technically possible to use them on the accomodation network, no official support is offered for these devices.
If the use of a Fritz!Box causes network disruptions, the connection owner can be held directly liable. Many older Fritz!Box models and devices branded by a network provider are also often so limited in terms of software that they cannot be used in the accomodation for technical reasons.
Instructions
As no official support can be offered for Fritz!Box devices, please refer to the manufacturer's instructions:
👉 AVM Knowledge Base: Setting up the FRITZ!Box as a cascaded router
Please note:
- The Fritz!Box may only be connected to the accomodation network in step 2 after saving the settings.
- The correct connection (WAN port) must be used as described in the instructions. This may vary depending on the model, so please refer to the instructions for your specific model.
- The accomodation does not provide DHCP. Therefore, go to Step 1 → Sub-item 9 → Sub-sub-items a–d in the AVM instructions and select the option ‘Set IP address manually’.
- If the Fritz!Box asks for transfer rates, enter a speed of 1000 Mbit/s = 1000000 Kbit/s for both uploads and downloads.
